2// What's On My Mind?

For the past few days, Paris Fashion Week has been looming around my brain. As the last of cities apart of the phenomena that is Fashion Month, I was curious as to how to designers shut it down in Paris. Needless to say, I was thoroughly impressed.

The first show that I checked out was Chanel. As always, the set was phenomenal. The theme was based around an airport. Some guests were even given the opportunity to view the show from airport seats placed in the middle of the runway. As for the clothes, there was this very futuristic, tomboy-chic look with hints of the classic Chanel tweed two-piece looks. What is so amazing about Chanel is the fact that with any direction they go trend wise, they are still able to reference it back to that elegant Chanel look.

Next, was Balenciaga. For the past few years, under Alexander Wang’s guide, Balenciaga accumulated a look. Dark, sleek, and structured; it was very Wang. Alexander Wang’s last show with the house left me with so many questions: was this all-white show him “waving a white flag” or was he presenting a clean slate for the next creative director? Mr. Wang, I need answers. However, at the end of the day, I am very satisfied with Wang’s choice of models; hey Zoë!

As for some of the other shows that knocked my socks off, Mui Mui came out with clothes that flaunted elements of ‘60s and '70s  alongside their ever so quirky shoes I just love. Also, I was very much fan of the patterned coats showcased at the beginning of the show. Saint Laurent gave me very “post-grunge, Paris Hilton AFTER the party vibes” with their incorporation of slip dresses, fur coats and tiaras. Hermès killed the sportswear look. Alexander McQueen was serving “romantic, 19th century princess” with gorgeous dusty rose ruffled dresses. And last, but not least, Kenzo presented the most charming kimonos and cut-out, thigh-high sandals in very beautiful colors and patterns; but that’s not that surprising of them.

Now that that’s off my mind, it’s back to the books. Au revoir!
